Käytiin tossa maanantaina 21.8. koululla tekemässä mun lukkari. Meil on joka päivä sama lukkari koko vuoden. Oon nyt jo oppinu et mihin mun pitää mennä minkäki jälkee. On mul onneks kaks kurssii jotka kestää vaa puol vuotta, koska on kiva saada jonkunlaista vaihteluu mun lukkariin sit vuodenvaihteen jälkee. Asia josta en kyl tykkää yhtää on se et mul alkaa koulu joka päivä seiskalta. Oon nyt jo kyllästyny herää 5:30am, mut pakko yrittää jaksaa. Haluisin mennä tosi aikasi nukkuu, mut sisko sano et sitku koriskausi alkaa nii voi olla et ollaa kotona vasta kymmenen jälkee illalla, joten mun kannattaa totutella siihe et nukun vähä vähemmä. Aion kyl nukkuu viikonloppusin paljo.
( At Monday, August 21st, we went to visit the school to do my schedule for school. We have every day the same schedule for the whole year. I've already learned where I need to go after every period. I'm glad that I have two classes that last only half of the year because it's good to have some change to the schedule after the new year. The thing that I don't like it that my school starts every single day at seven am. I'm already done waking up at 5:30 am but my host sister said that when the basketball season starts, we might be home after 10 pm so I should get used to sleeping little less. I'm gonna sleep a lot at weekend tho. )
Nyt on takana eka kokonaine viikko koulua. Meiän koulu alko torstaina 24.8. ja ne ekat kaks päivää oli aika turhia. Me ei tehty paljoo mitää ja mulle ne oli vaa tosi kiusallisia ku kukaa ope ei osannu sanoo mun nimee oikein. Nyt ne on sen aika hyvin oppinu. Tykkään siit et mul alkaa joka päivä kuvistunnilla. Oon aina nii väsyny aamusin et on kiva alottaa jollai rennolla. Ei olla tehty kuviksessa viel mitää. Ollaa vast katottu videoita veistosten tekemisistä, koska oon veistoskurssilla ja meiän pitää oppii kaikenlaisii perusteita niitten tekemisestä. Oon tavannu siel kivoi ihmisii. Ne on kyl senioreita eli mua ylemmällä luokalla mut ei se haittaa ne on ihania ihmisiä. En oo ikinä ollu historian fani mut mun oli pakko ottaa Amerikan historia. En oo viel ymmärtäny paljoo mitää sit tunnil ja mul on ens viikol eka oikee koe. Opiskelen niit asioit nyt viel et oppisin ees vähä.
( Now the first whole week of school is done. Our school started August 24th and the first two days were little useless. We didn't do much and it was awkward for me because all of the teachers said my name wrong. Now they have learned it pretty well. I like it that my day starts with art every day. I'm always so tired in the morning so it's good that I have something easy and fun to start with. We haven't done anything yet at art. We have watched videos about sculpting because I'm in sculpting class and we need to learn all kinda basics about it. I've met nice people in there even tho they are seniors but it's fine. I've never been a fan of history but I had to take American history. I haven't got a lot yet and I have my first actual test next week. I just need to study now so I would know even something. )
Viime viikol mul oli kaikissa aineissa SGM, eli Student Growth Messurment. Se tarkottaa et meil oli koe, jossa oli kysymyksiä niistä asioista jota tullaan käymään kurssin aikana. Opettajat haluu nähä paljonko me tiedetään etukäteen, mut oikeesti kaikki vaa halus et me saadaa hylätty. Ideana on siis et saadaa täst kokeest tosi huono ja sit ku opitaan kurssin aikana niit asioita nii saadaa tosta samasta kokeesta ens keväänä sit parempi numero. En kyl oikeest tienny niist paljoo mitää ku halusin joissai aineissa oikeesti yrittää. Ei se kyl haittaa tiiän vaa et pitää oikeesti opiskella tänä vuonna.
( Last week I had SGM (Student Growth Measurement) in all the subjects. It means that I have a test where is questions about the things we're gonna study this year. Teachers want to see how much we know already but actually, they just want us to fail. The idea is that we got bad grade now and when we learn these things during the course, we get a good grade on the same test at the end of the year. I actually didn't know much even tho I actually tried in some tests. But it's seriously fine, I just know that I have to study this year. )
En oo missään urheilu tiimissä nyt syksyllä, koska kaikki try outit oli ennen ku tulin tänne. Ei se mua ees haittaa, koska ei täs syksyl oo oikee lajii mitä haluisin pelaa. Sain kyl vihdoin sovittuu yhen opettajan kaa mulle treenit. Eli alotin nyt lauantaina pelaamaan korista. Ite koriskausi alkaa vasta joskus marraskuussa, mut en mä pysty sinne asti odottaa, ku nyt jo menee hermo ku on ollu ilman korista kuukauden. Kävin siis lauantaina kaheksalta aamulla pelaamassa kaks tuntii korista. Yks meiän koulun opettajista oli valmentamassa ja sen tytär oli pelaamassa mun kaa. Ei oltu iha kahestaa ku siel oli myös naapuri kylästä tyttö harjottelemassa. Se on mun vastustaja sitku kausi alkaa. Tykkäsin niist treeneist tosi paljon ja on kivaa päästä joka lauantai pelaamaan kahdeksi tunniksi. En kyl yhtää tykkää siit et ne on aamulla kaheksalta, koska oon nii väsyny viikolta, mut tuun todennäkösesti ottaa aina päikkärit treenien jälkeen. Mul oli tosi hyvä fiilis niitten jälkeen ja en malta odottaa et koriskausi alkaa ja pääsen pelaamaan ja treenaamaan oikeesti joka päivä koulun jälkeen.
( I'm not in any fall sport now because all of the try outs were before I came here. It's fine tho because there is no sport in the fall I would like to play. I finally made a deal with one of the teachers to get me practice. Which means I started this Saturday to play basketball. The basketball season starts somewhere in November but I was already losing my mind because it's been a month since my last practice so I couldn't wait anymore. So I was Saturday morning at 8 am playing basketball for two hours. One of our school teachers was coaching and his daughter was playing with me. There was one girl from neighbor town, Madison, playing with us. She is my opponent when the season starts. I really liked the practice and it is fun to go play every Saturday for two hours. I don't like that they are at 8 am because I'm so tired from the school week but I'm probably gonna take a nap every time after the practice. I was feeling really good after the practice and I can't wait that the basketball season starts and I can play and I have practice every single day after school. )
Oon käyny kattomassa mun siskon kaikki kotipelit. Se pelaa siis nyt syksyl lenttistä. On ollu oikeesti tosi kivaa olla kattomassa niit pelejä ja oon siin samalla tutustunu siihen joukkueeseen. Vaik en ite pelaa siin joukkueessa nii oikeest mun läheisimmät kaverit on tullu siitä joukkueesta. Syön lounastaki joka päivä niitten kaa ja se on ihanaa, kuinka innoissaan se on oppia Suomesta ja mun kielestä. Mul on aina tosi hauskaa lounailla. Siitä puheen ollen, ostin varmaa ekat neljä koulupäivää lounaan sieltä, mut sit ihan oikeesti kyllästyin siihen nii paljon. Tääl on joka päivä lounaalla pizzaa, hamppareita, ranskiksii, kananugettea ja joskus harvoin joku salaatti, mut seki yleensä on aika pahaa. Ekana päivänä olin innoissani et jes tääl on salaattii ja otin sen, mut se maistu iha säilöntäaineilta eikä tuoreilta vihanneksita. Seuraavana päivänä sitä ei ollu ja mun oli pakko ottaa pizzaa. Yhtenä päivänä siel oli tortillarullia, mut ne oli valmiiks tehty, ne oli tosi kuivia ja ei täyttäny ollenkaa. Yhtenä päivänä sit söin kananugetteja ja ranskiksii. Oikeest kilahti päässä et en haluu syyä tällee joka päivä ku en oikeest haluu lihoo tän vuoden aikana. Nii ku menin kotiin nii sanoin host äitille et haluun ottaa ite oman lounaan kouluun. Nyt oon sit syöny leipää lounaaks. Ainii ja oon pahoillani et mul ei oo mitää kuvii kouluruista mut siihen on hyvä syy. Meiän koulussa ei saa käyttää puhelinta ollenkaa, joten en voi ottaa kuvii koulussa vaik haluisin. Voisin varmaa kysyy joltai opettajalta luvan ottaa nopeesti kuvan, mut ehkä mä nyt hetken pärjään ilman.
( I've been watching my sisters every single home game. She plays volleyball now in the fall. It's actually been fun to watch those games and get to know the team. Even tho I don't play in the team, most of friends are from that team. I also eat lunch with them and I love it how excited they have been about Finland and my language. I always have a fun time at lunch. Speaking of which, I probably bought first four days lunch from school but I got sick of it. Here are everyday pizza, burgers, fries, chicken nuggets and sometimes salad but that is usually not so good. At the first day, I was excited that there is salad and I took it but it wasn't as fresh as I would like it to be. Next day I had to take the pizza because there was no salad. One day there was tortilla wraps but they were already made so they were little dry and empty. One day I ate chicken nuggets and fries. It seriously clicked in my head that I don't want to eat this every day because I don't wanna get fat here. So I went to my host mom and said that I wanna take my own lunch with me. Now I've eaten bread for lunch. Oh yeah and I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of my school lunch but I have a good reason for it. We're not allowed to use our phones in school so I can't take pictures even tho I would want to. I think I could ask a permission to take one picture quickly but I'm fine for now. )
Pakko siit on vähän sanoo, eli kuuluisa jenkkien pukukoodi. Aluks olin et okei ei tääl oo mitenkää ihmeellinen ku olin kysyny siskolta ennen ku koulu alko, mut sit meil oli auditoriossa sellai ilmotustapahtuma missä puhuttiin siitä. Se on oikeesti naurettavan tiukka! Meil ei saa olla farkkuja mis on reiät polvien yläpuolella, hameen ja sortsien pitää olla sormenpäitten alapuolella, olkapäät ei saa näkyä. Yleensä on sääntö et pitää olla kolmensormen levyset olkaimet, mut tääl sekään ei riitä. Meil pitää olla vähintään viis sormee, joka tarkottaa et sen pitää oikeesti peittää se olkapää. Mitkään crop topit ei oo sallittuja, eli me ei saada näyttää meiän keskivartaloa. Yks naurettavimmista on et ei saada käyttää sellasii tohveleita, mut sit kukaan ei kiellä varvastossuja. Pyjamahousut on kielletty. Ketä oikeesti kiinnostaa onks sul päällä sun yöpuku vai ei. Ja nykyään on olemassa sellasii vaatteita et oikeesti on vaikee sanoo et nukuks sä niillä vai et. Taisin luokitella vasta puolet meiän puku koodista, mut ehkä sen rupee ymmärtää et se on naurettavan tiukka. ( Have to say a little about the famous US high school dress code. At first, I thought that it's not even special when I ask my sister about it before school started but then we had an announcement in the auditorium where they told about that. It's seriously ridiculously specific! We're not allowed to wear jeans with holes too high, skirt/dress and shorts need to pass the finger tips and you can't show your shoulders. Usually, it's three fingers but even it's not enough, you just simply need to cover your shoulders. You can't wear crop tops which mean that you can't show your stomach. One of the most ridiculous is that you can't wear slippers but you can wear flip flops. Pyjamas are forbidden. Who cares do you sleep in the same clothes you come to school. And there is a lot of clothes that are hard to tell do you wear them at night or day. I think I said about half of the dress code but I think you get that it's ridiculously specific. For me, it's just funny why it needs to be like that because I know I'm probably gonna wear sweatshirts and jeans or leggings to school every day because it's freezing in the school. )
Tääl on kyl hauska tapa et, jos sul on kotipeli, nii sä pukeudut siististi. Yleensä pojat laittaa kauluspaidan, kravaatin/rusetin, siistit housut ja kengät. Tytöt yleensä laittaa mekon ja jotkut laittaa korkkarit. Se on oikeesti aika kiva tapa, nii tulee nähtyy et okei tol on tänää kotipeli, vois mennä kattoo. Oon muuteki yllättyny et kui moni tyytö pitää korkkareita koulussa iha muuten vaa. Ite vedän joka päivä mun lenkkareissa, koska oon vaa liian mukavuudenhalunen. Tääl on sellasii kaikenlaisii pikkuasioita mihin oon kiinnittäny huomiota, mut niit on oikeest nii paljo et en ees jaksa kertoo.
( Here is a fun tradition that if you have a home game, you dress up for school. Guys usually wear fancy shirt and pants and maybe tie or a bow. Girls wear a dress and maybe high heels. It's actually really fun tradition so you can see who has a game and you might go watch it. I'm also surprised that girls wear high heels for the school like in a normal day. I wear my Nikes sneakers/tennis shoes every single day because I want to be comfortable too much. Here is a lot of little things what I've noticed but seriously there is so much that I'm not gonna tell all. )
Ainii ja monii varmasti kiinnostaa, kyllä tääl on tosi selkeesti ryhmät et ketkä on keidenki kaa. Sen näkee parhailen ruokailussa, koska ei meil oo minkäänlaisii välitunteja. Se on outoo et moni on sillee, et on koulus et voi hengaa kavereitten kaa, mut ei tääl oo ku lounas millon sul on aikaa jutella niille. Ku yks tunti loppuu, nii sul on jo kiire seuraavalle. Kerkeet ehk just ja just käydä vessassa tai kaapillas, mut jos teet kummanki nii aina varmasti myöhästyt tunnilta. Meiän tunnit kestää 45 min ja yleensä opettaja puhuu teoriasta sen puol tuntii ja sen jälkee sanoo, et nyt voitte tehä näitä tehtävii tai jutella vaa kavereitten kaa. Siin on yleensä just se vartti tai ainaki 10 minuuttii sellast turhaa aikaa. Tuntuu tosi oudolta ku on tottunu siihe et me tehää tehtävii viimeseen minuuttiin asti. Voi olla et toi tapa johtuu siit, et ku kellot soi nii on kiire seuraavalle tunnille.
( Oh yeah and I think many wonders so yes here are groups that who hang out with who. It's most obvious during lunch because there is no time to hang out between classes. It's weird that many are excited about school so they can hang out with their friends but the only time for that is lunch. When the class ends you already have to hurry to the next one. You might have time to use the restroom or go to your locker but if you do both, you probably will be late from the class. Our classes last for 45 minutes and usually, the teacher talks about the theory for half an hour and after that, you can either do the assignments or just hang out. Usually, there is like 15 or 10 minutes useless time. It feels weird because I've used to that we do work until the last minute. It might be because we have to hurry to the next class after the bell rings. )
Koulukirjat on ihan oma tarina. Luulin oikeesti et mun koulukirjat Suomessa on isoja, mut ei kuule ne on pieniä. Täällä nää kirjat on oikeesti ainaki viis senttii paksut ja me päällystetään ne paperikasseilla. Ehkä maailman rumimmat kirjat ikinä mut ei se haittaa XD. Mul on yhteensä kolme kirjaa, koska mul on viis ainetta jossa käytetään kirjoja, mut kahessa niistä me säilytetään kirjoja luokassa, koska niit ei oo tarpeeks kaikille oppilaille. Meil ei myöskään oo vihkoja, vaan käytetään kansioita ja paperia. Toisaalta oikeesti tosi kätevä tapa ku sinne saa samaan paikkaan laitettuu sit monisteet mitä saadaan tunneilla. Ne on kyl tosi isoja ja vie paljon tilaa. Se on kyl tyhmää ku joka päivä on sama lukkari, et jos tulee läksyy jostain nii se on tehtävä sinä päivänä. Ja ärsyttävintä siin on niitten kirjojen raahaaminen kotiin.
( The textbooks are totally own story. I thought my textbooks in Finland were big but those are small. Here these books are like two inches thick and we cover them with paper bags. Maybe the world ugliest books ever but it's okay XD. I have three books because even tho I have five subjects where we use books but two of them we keep the books in the classroom because there are no enough books for everyone. We don't either have notebooks but we have binders and paper. It's actually handy because we can keep the papers we get in there. The binders are pretty big tho and take a lot of space. It's stupid that we have the same schedule every day because if we have homework, it has to do with the same day. The most annoying part is to carry the books home every day. )
Perantaina meil oli koulussa pep assembly, jossa esiteltiin kaikki urheilulajit ja joukkueet. Meiän koulun orkesteri soitti siel musiikkii ja cheerleadit tanssi. Yhes vaihees yks oppilas meni siihen kaikkien keskelle ja sano et nyt tehään valovuoristorata. Ideana oli siis et laitettiin puhelimista taskulamppu päälle ja otettiin mallia. Se alotti pistämällä kädet ylös vuoristorata musiikin tahtiin. Me laitettii valojen kanssa kädet ylös ja seurattiin mallia. Ruvettiin heittelee meiän käsiä ylös, alas, oikeelle ja vasemmalle. Se oli oikeest nii siistiä! Meil oli myös dance off. Se oli ihan super hauska. Kaks oppilasta, eri vuositasoilta meni siihen alas ja laitettiin musiikki soimaa. Hauskin oli se ku toine niistä teki sen madon. Ja sen jälkee se oli sillee et ei mul oo muuta. Se ol nii hauskaa. Perjantai oli super kiva päivä. Mentii viel illal kattoo futispeliä. Ei oikee huvitanu istuu siin opiskelija osastolla, ku ne kaikki seiso koko pelin ja huus nii siirryttiin siskon kaa toisaalle istuu. Löydettiin hyvä paikka, jossa ei ollu paljoo ihmisii ja siit näki hyvin pelin. Meiän seuraan liitty yks meiän kaveri ja muitaki mut ne välil liikku muualle ja sellasta et oltii pääasiassa kolmisteen. Meil oli kyl tosi hauskaa. Naurettiin paljon ja pidettiin kivaa. Oli tosi kylmä ilta ja olin pistäny paljon päälle, mut mul oli silti kylmä, mut onneks haettiin mulle viltti, jonka laitoin mun hartioille ja jaettiin yks lämmin viltti kolmisteen meiän jalkojen päälle. Ei tullu kylmä. Oli tosi kiva päivä kokonaisuudessa.
( We had pep assembly at the school on Friday, where they introduced fall sports and the teams. Our orchestra and the band was playing and cheerleaders dancing. At one point, one of the students went in the front and said that let's do the light roller coaster. The idea was that we all put the flash light on and followed. He started by putting hands up with roller coaster music and we did too. Then he started to swing his hands up and down, right and left and we followed. It looked so cool! We also had a dance off. It was so fun. Two students, junior and senior, went in front and the music went on. Funniest was probably when the other one did the worm. After doing that he said, "That's all I got". It was funny. Friday was a good day. At night we went watch the football game. We didn't feel like sitting in the student section because all of them were standing and cheering up loudly so we decided to go somewhere else. We found a good place to sit, where weren't a lot of people and we saw the game well. Our friend joined us and other people too but they moved around so most of the time was us three. We had a lot of fun. We laughed a lot and had fun. It was really cold night and I had a lot of clothes on but I was still freezing so I went and got me a blanket. I wrapped myself in the blanket and we shared one for three of us on top of our legs. I wasn't cold anymore. It was really fun day overall. )
En oo ostanu viel oikee mitää, mut ollaan käyty aika monesti kattomassa homecoming mekkoja. Mentiin tossa lauantaina 26.8. käymään Beachwoodissa. Käytiin eka Apple-storessa korjauttamassa host äitin puhelin ja mentii siit sen jälkeen isoon kauppakeskukseen nimeltä Beachwood Place Mall. Löydettiin siskon kanssa vihdoin meille täydelliset mekot! Oon super innoissani. Nyt mun pitää enää löytää ittelleni kengät, jotka sopii siihen asuun ja joilla pystyis tanssii.
( I haven't bought a lot of anything yet but we have been watching homecoming dresses multiple times. At Saturday, August 26th we went to Beachwood. First, we went to Apple-store to fix my host moms phone and after that, we went to a big mall called Beachwood Place Mall. We finally found perfect dresses for me and my sister! I'm super excited. Now I just have to find shoes that go with the dress and I can dance with. )
Olin maanantaina innoissani ku host äiti kerto, et se aikoo tehä lohta. Nää ei syö ikinä kalaa eikä ees tykkää siitä, joten arvostan sitä ihan sikana et ne teki lohta ihan vaa mun takii. Se oli oikeesti tosi hyvää ku miettii et host äiti ei oo tehny sitä koskaan aikasemmin. Sanoin et ei mua haittaa vaik saisin lohta seuraavan kerran vast parin kuukauden päästä, ku tiiän et te ette tykkää siit nii paljoo, mut ois kiva saada sitä aina sillon tällön. Ne sano et kyl ne voi tehä sitä vähä useemmin ku kahen kuukauden välein, ku se oli oikeesti yllättävän hyvää. Arvostan sitä ihan sikana.
( At Monday, I was excited when my host mom told that she is gonna make salmon. They never eat fish and don't even like it so I appreciate it a lot that they make it for me. It was seriously really good and if you think that it was my host moms first time making it. I'm fine if I get salmon next time in two months because I know that they don't like it so much but it would be fun to have it sometimes. They said that they can make it little more often than in two months away because it was surprisingly good. I appreciate that so much. )
Meillä oli sunnuntaina 27. päivä AFS picnic. Siel oli super hauskaa. Pelattiin lenttistä muitten vaihtareitten ja niitten host sisarusten kanssa. Me oltiin kaikki ihan surkeita, mut ei se haittaa, koska se teki siit just hauskaa. Siel oli tosi hyvää ruokaa tarjolla ja oli ihanaa tutustua niihin ihmisiin. Pääsin pelaa korista ja mun halu pelata kasvo vaan enemmän. Mul tuli ihan hirveen kuuma siin pelatessa. En ollu suunnitellu meneväni uimaan mut oli pakko, koska oli nii kova hiki. Soudettiin sellaselle kelluvalle laiturille, jossa muut oli ollu jo aika kaua. Periaatteena oli et jos sä tiputat jonkun, nii joku muu tiputtaa sut. Mun host sisko tiputti mut veteen nii muut autto ja tiputti sen. En ois haunnu kastella mun hiuksii, ku oltii menossa kauppoille viel sen jälkee, mut se oli myöhästä. Oisin ihan hyvin voinu vastustaa sitä siskon työntämistä, mut en halunnu yrittää liikaa, koska en halunnu et mulle ois sattunu mitään, ku se laituri oli kuitenki tosi liukas ja siin oli veneet vieressä. Ei haitannu kastautua, ku oli nii kova hiki ja mul oli oikeesti tosi hauskaa tutustua niihin ihmisiin. Oli kyl kans tosi outoo puhuu mun kaverin kans siel suomee. Oli joitain asioita mitä halusin kertoo sille silleet et muut ei ymmärrä nii se oli kätevä tapa, mut muuten halusin puhuu sille kans englantii, koska oon kuitenki tääl jenkeis oppimas englantii ja tiiän et jos oisin siel muitten kengis nii haluisin ymmärtäää mitä ne sanoo. Mul oli tosi hauska päivä kokonaisuudessa.
( We had AFS-picnic on Sunday 27th. It was super fun. We played volleyball with other exchange students and their host siblings. We weren't good at all but it was fine because it was the part what made it funny. There was good food and it was fun to get to know these people even more. I got to play basketball and my will to play grow even more. I got really hot while playing. I wasn't planning to go swimming but I had to because I was so sweaty. We rowed to a floating pier where other was been already a while. The deal was, if you push someone into the water, someone pushes you. My host sister pushed me so they helped and pushed her. I didn't want my hair to get wet because we were going to Walmart after that but it was too late. I could've fought back when sister pushed me but I didn't wanna try because I didn't want to get hurt because the pier was so wet and slippery and there were the boats next to us. I was fine getting wet because I was so hot and I had really fun getting to know them. It was also weird to speak Finnish with my friend. There were things that I wanted to tell her without other understanding so it was a good way but otherwise I wanted to talk English to her because I'm still here, in the USA, to learn English and I know if I would be the other people, I would like to understand what they say. I had a really fun day. )
Suomen kielestä puheen ollen juttelin tossa eilen facetimessä mun parhaan kaverin kanssa ja tänään mun perheelle. Tuntu nii oudolta puhuu oikeesti suomee. Vaik oon sanonu joitain lauseita mun jenkki kavereille suomeks, nii se on silti ihan eri asia. Nyt puhuin sillee kokoajan suomee ja se toinen vastas suomeks ja ymmärtää mua täysin. Tuntu nii oudolta ja oli vaikee välil löytää sanoja ku oon tottunu jo puhuu englantii nii paljo. Oli kyl ihanaa jutella niitten kanssa ja kysyy kuulumisia ja kertoo mitä kaikkee oon ite tehny tääl. Juteltii varmaa noin kolme tuntii kaverin kaa, kunnes sen oli pakko mennä nukkuu ku oli koulu päivä seuraavana aamuna. Mul on tänää vapaa päivä koska on labor day. Se on jonkunlainen pyhäinpäivä näille, mut hei ei yhtää haittaa. Sain nukkuu pitkään! Tänää on muutenki tosi kaunis päivä ja tosi lämmin. Kirjottelen tässä kuistilla ja nautin lämpimästä auringonpaisteesta. Asteita on 28. Täällä syksy tulee selkeesti paljon myöhemmin ku Suomessa, mut ei se mua haittaa. Ootan kyl syksyä innolla ku sen pitäs kuulemma olla tosi kaunis. Ei mulla nyt muuta tuu mieleen nii seuraavaan kertaan.
( Speaking of Finnish, I talked to my best friend in FaceTime yesterday and to my family today. It felt so weird to speak actually Finnish. Even tho I've said something in Finnish here, it's still so different. Now I spoke only Finnish and they understood what I said. It felt so weird and it was hard at times to find words because I've talked only English for so long. It was awesome to talk to them and ask how they are doing and tell what I've done here. Me and my best friend talked about three hours until she had to go sleep because it was school morning at the next day. I have today day off because it's Labor day. It's some kinda important day in here but hey it's fine for me. I got to sleep long! It's been a beautiful day today and really warm. I'm now writing on the porch and enjoying the warm sunshine. It's 28 degrees Celsius (83 of Fahrenheit). Clearly, the fall is coming later in here than in Finland but it's fine for me. I'm excited about fall because I've heard that it's beautiful in here. I think I'm finally done for now so till next time. )

Tänä viikonloppuna (23.-24.9.) oli Grape Jamboree. Se on vuosittainen rypäle festivaali täällä Genevassa. Olisin ite uskonu et se ois ollu muissaki kylissä, mut ketkää muut vaihtarit ei tienny tästä, joten se on selkeesti vaan Genevan juttu.
(This weekend (23.-24.9.) we had Grape Jamboree. It's yearly grape festival here in Geneva. I first thought that it would be in other towns too but no other exchange student knew about this so apparently, it's only here in Geneva.)Kumpanakin päivänä oli paraati. Lauantaina en sitä itse kerennyt nähdä, koska menin kaverin synttäreille. Näin sen kuitenkin sunnuntaina. Paraati kesti yhteensä 45 min. Suurin osa liikkui autoilla. Siinä meni ambulanssit, poliisiautot, paloautot, seriffit ja kaikki kaupungin turvallisuus järjestöt. Monen eri missi kilpailun kuningattaret ja prinsessat kulki autoilla ja vilkutteli nätisti katsojille. Kaikkien auojen lisäksi siellä oli pari eri bändiä soittamassa. Esnimmäinen bändi oli meiän koulun eli Geneva High School band. Myöhemmin sieltä tuli aikuisia miehiä soittaen rumpuja ihan sika hyvin. Sitä oli tosi kiva kuunnella ku oikeesti osaa soittaa tosi hyvin. Pelkästä rumpujen soitosta tunnisti biisin, mitä ne soitti nii kyllä se kertoo jo vähän siitä tasosta. Siellä oli myös cheerleaderit ja erilaiset tanssiryhmät tanssimassa samalla kun ne liikkui eteenpäin paraatissa. Osaan vaa kuvitella kuinka kuuma niillä oli kun itekkin olin ihan kuumissani vaikka vaan istuin maassa.
(Both days we had a parade. Saturday I wasn't able to see it all because I went to friends birthday party. I still saw it on Sunday. It lasted 45 min. Most of them were moving with cars. There were the ambulances, police cars, fire trucks, sheriffs and all the safety organizations of the town. Many different beauty pageants had their princesses on the trucks and they were waving pretty. There were also couple different bands playing. First one was our school's band. Later there came men playing drums really well. It was so cool to listen to that because they really knew what they were doing. You can tell that they were good because only by the drums I knew what song they were playing. There were also the cheerleaders and other dance groups dancing while walking in the parade. I can only imagine how hot they were because I was hot just by sitting on the ground.)
(There were also all kinda shows on the main stage. There were grape stomping, music, and all other fun stuff. I wasn't there a lot because we wanted to walk around. The whole area was full of food trucks and all they offered were fast food. Well what else you can expect. I tasted the grape juice and grape ice cream. The juice was pretty sweet but I liked it and the ice cream was so good. No wonder why everyone compliments it so much. I also bought a strawberry-banana smoothie. It was really good and I needed something cold because it was so hot. I wasn't long there on Saturday. In the morning I was about two hours and after 8 pm I went back for two hours. On Sunday I was there the whole day. We went there around twelve and came home around eight. We came home once to cool down a little bit because it was simply so hot. I don't get it how some people wore jeans or even say that it wasn't hot. There were 31 (90) degrees! You can also imagine that I'm Finnish, the whole day outside, it is really hot and no clouds in the sky, so yes I managed to burn my shoulders. It has been hard to be at school and carry my book back because my shoulders hurt. I've taken care of them well so let's hope that they aren't red anymore in next weeks homecoming.)
Ruuan ja paraatin lissäksi siellä oli tosi paljon pieniä putiikkeja, missä ihmiset möi niiden omatekoisia asioita. Joillain oli vaatteita, toisilla koruja, jotkut oli tehnyt koriste-esineitä ja mitä kaikkea sieltä löytyikään. Ite ostin sieltä rannekorun ja lippiksen. Oon tottunut siihen, että melkein joka toisella suomalaisella on NY:n lippis, mutta täällä moni ottaa sen loukkaavasti, koska luulee että kannatan New York Yankees’ien joukkuetta enkä Cleaveland Indianceja, joten ostin uuden lippiksen nii en ainakaan siitä kuule enään niin usein. Olisi tehnyt mieli ostaa sieltä vaikka ja mitä, mutta en haluu ostaa liikaa kerralla. 
(Besides the food and parade, there was also a lot of small boutiques where people seld their handmade stuff. Some had clothes, other had jewelry, some were made decoration items and all other kinda stuff. I bought a bracelet and a cap from there. I've used to that almost every other Finnish people have a NY cap but in here many can take it offensively because they think I'm a New York Yankees fan and not a Cleaveland Indians fan, so I bought a new cap so as many don't say me about it anymore. I would've wanted to buy so much stuff from there but I don't wanna buy too much at once.)
Mikä amerikkalainen festari olisi festari ilman huvipuistolaitteita ja pelejä? Pelattiin vaan yhtä peliä, koska ei oikeen haluttu kuluttaa niihin liikaa rahaa ku ei kuitenkaan oltas voitettu mitään. Peli mitä siskon kanssa kokeiltiin oli tietysti se koripallo peli. Oltais kumpiki saatu varmaa ne kaikki kolme heittoa sisään, jos sitä peliä ei oltais tehty tosi vaikeeks sillä että se rengas on soikio eikä pyöreä. En edes oikeasti tiedä mahtuuko se pallo siitä renkaasta läpi. No ei se mitään. Käytiin myös siskon kanssa yhdessä laitteessa. Kaikki oli aika tylsiä laitteita, koska ne oli pääasiassa tarkoitettu perheen pienimmille ettei ne tylsistyisi siellä. Mulla oli kyllä tosi kivaa ilman niitä laitteitakin. Oli se kyllä kiva käydä siinä, mutta ei se kauaa kestänyt, joten ei se ihan hirveästi vaikuttanut mun päivää. Näin paljon kavereita ja uusia ihmisiä. Sisko välillä vaan yhtäkkiä ryntäsi johonkin kaverinsa luokse ja menin vaan perässä ja tutustuin uusiin ihmisiin. Päivän päätteeksti mun jalat oli tosi kipeet siitä kaikesta seisomisesta ja kävelemisestä, koska en myöskään voinut käyttää mun lenkkareita, koska launataina huomasin oikeesti että mun varpaat paloi kuumuudesta niissä kengissä, joten lainasin sunnuntaiski sandaaleja siskolta. Onneksi meillä on saman kokoiset jalat. 
(What American festival would be a festival without the rides and games? We played only one game because we didn't want to spend too much money for those because we wouldn't win anything anyway. The game I played with my host sister was of course the basketball game. Both of us probably could've got all three shots in if they hadn't made it so hard by making the ring oval instead of round. I'm not even sure can the ball fit through the ring. Well, it's fine. We also went to one ride. All of them were pretty boring because they were meant for the kids so they wouldn't be bored there. I had really fun without the rides too. It was fun to ride that but it didn't last long so it didn't affect my day a lot. I saw a lot of my friends and I met new people. Sometimes my host sister just ran somewhere to say hi to her friends and I just followed and met new people. End of the day my feet were hurting from all that standing and walking because I wasn't able to use my sneakers cause I saw Saturday that my toes were burning from that heat so I borrowed sandals from my sister for Sunday. Good that we have same size foot.)
